Snow White and the Seven Dorks

I just bought Snow White to add to Corina and Addie's movie collection.  We started watching it and when the dwarves first came on Corina exclaimed, "Mommy there are the dorks!"  followed by Addie, "Yay, the dorks!"  Of course I didn't correct them.  The rest of the movie they had thier usual many questions and comments,  "Mommy what are the dorks doing? Mommy that dork is funny, what is his name?  Where are the dorks going?  Why are the dorks sad?  Mommy I like the dorks!"

I like the dorks too.

Snausage ate it!

Over the weekend we made ornaments out of salt dough.  Corina and Addie decorated theirs with lots of glitter.  We finally finished this morning and put pipe cleaners on for hangers.  They took a long time finding just the perfect spots on the tree to put them.  I was doing laundry and came back in to find Snausage had eaten one, glitter and all!!  This from a dog who won't even eat popcorn or nuts.  Now I have to watch her to see if she gets sick.  :p  The bottom of our tree was finally decorated with kid friendly ornaments and now the dog is eating

Pictures With the Mall Santa!

We thought that since Corina and Addie are 3 this year we have to get official Santa pictures done at the mall.  Carl and I knew the line would be way too long on a weekend so Laura and I took them today instead.  We put on their pretty Christmas dresses and they were so excited.  On the way there I explained to them they would be sitting on Santa's lap for a picture.  They sat on Santa's lap at the tree farm last weekend, and they are pretty much fearless in general so I thought it would be a piece of cake.  There was hardly any line when we got there, they saw San

French Toast Pppbbttthhhh

I thought I would make a special breakfast for the girls this morning for something different.  It took a while but I made them vanilla french toast.  I cut it into little triangles and gave them syrup in little bowls to dip it into.  I was all proud of my effort to make a breakfast treat for them and was waiting for the "thanks mom" and "mmm this is yummy!".  However, what actually happened was they drank the syrup straight then cried for "regular" toast.  Lesson learned, simple is better even when it comes to treats.  Snausage and I enjoyed the french toast.<

Everyday Life with 3 Year Olds #4: Clothes

Every morning I pick weather-appropriate outfits for the girls to put on, and they do.  However, throughout the day those outfits disappear and various combinations replace them like: nothing but underwear and my slippers, pink t-shirt, black shoes and underwear, a summer dress with a winter hat...  Why don't 3 year olds like to wear an entire outfit at the same time?  The other day they dumped out the entire hamper just to get access to anything except what they had on!  Corina would actually just prefer to live in underwear and nothing else all the time if I let her.&n

Halloween

Halloween morning Carl and I took a little motorcycle ride while John and Laura watched the girls for us.  The weather was gorgeous.  Then later that afternoon after naps we headed back over to Laura and John's.  Corina and Adrian were lady bugs, I was a bumble bee, Laura was a spider and Carl was an entomologist.  John was on his own as a fisherman.  The plan was to pick up Papa Murphy's pizzas really quick, then take the girls trick or treating at dusk.  Well everyone had that same idea because even though we pre-ordered the pizza we had to wait a long, long,

Our Fall Vacation

In the past, fall vacation has always meant a cabin or bed and breakfast in the woods, leaves changing, cold air... but this year we hit the beach.

The first day, (Thursday Sept. 25) we took our time getting packed, loaded up and headed to San Jose to meet a friend for lunch.  We had lunch with Annie, who is a long time family friend of Carl that did our wedding pictures.  It was good to get caught up with her and the photography studio adventure.

Eeeeek a mouse!

I walked into the kitchen and there was a mouse in the middle of the floor.  It looked at me and I looked at it.  Then we both unfroze, screamed (well if a mouse could scream it would have) and ran in opposite directions!

When I was done freaking out I looked everywhere for it but it was gone.  So maybe screaming and running away from mice is a good way to get rid of them...?  I will let the exterminators know.

Everyday life with 3 year olds: #3

Corina:  Before starting to build a tower of crayola markers turns and looks at me and says,  "Momma, this is gonna HAPPEN!"  Such determination.

Addie:  We had a mouse and the exterminator was coming.  I told the girls a man is going to come to find the mousies.  He got here and Addie says, "Hey man?  Man are you going to find the mouse?  Where is the mouse man?"

Quote from Corina at dinner tonight:

"Spargus is fantasssik!"

Asparagus is fantastic in case anyone needs a translation.  I guess I need to serve more spargus around here!  My kids don't eat a huge amount of food but at least they love their fruit and veggies.
